Lately, rumours about the Mistral spread as the speed of light without considering facts and verified numbers. Let's get a few things straight:
1) France offers France offers to refund € 784,6 million while Russia wants € 1,163 Bln to terminate the contract.
2) Price of maintenance of the Mistral is not € 5 millions per month but € 0,4 million/month.

While Russian media claim that postponing the delivery of the Mistral is putting 2500 jobs at stake, only 300 to 400 people are still working on the second Mistral which is finished at more than 60%. Thanks to new huge American orders for civil ships, St nazaire has no concerns about employment. In addition to that, nobody is asking to halt building it as even oponents to the deal are campaigning to finish building the Mistral and sell both war ships to a country that respects international laws. One person protest against selling of Mistral to take place in Paris

Kyiv, 28 October 2014: On October 30, Maria Kuznetsova, Ukrainian designer and the winner of creative posters contest “Against Selling of Mistral Warships” will run one person protest in Paris. The protest will start on 11:00 near the Ministry of Defence of France, 14, Rue Saint-Dominique 75700. The main goal of the one-time demonstration is to demand final and full stop of selling and transportation of Mistrals to Russia. Maria will show her civic stance with presenting her poster “It’s not a toy” to the public in Paris. “France must understand that Mistrals are weapons in the hands of aggressor – Russia. If France does not fully cancel treaties of selling warships to Russia, than the next goal of Putin will be the South France, where there are a lot of “Russians”, who must be “protected”- says Maria. Mistral: Démontage De La Propagande Sputnik/FN

Dans un article recent (19/05/2015), Sputnik News , organe officiel de propagande du Kremlin donne la parole a Gauthier Bouchet, conseiller municipal FN à Saint-Nazaire. Petit florilège et démontage des fausses informations: Sputnik : "la solution la plus probable à ce stade est de saborder les navires en mer, ce qui coûterait à l'Hexagone quelque 20 millions d'euros. " FAUX: Couler des navires, c'est tout simplement illégal.  Cette action est interdite par la convention de Londres ratifiée par la France et... par la Russie.  De plus, les 20 millions d'euros évoqués étaient pour le démantèlement et recyclage des navires, option qui ne peut être envisagée que si la Russie interdit la revente des navires a un autre pays.
