Nadal: The Mistral Vladivostok Is Under French Flag

Romain Nadal

Following the article we published last Friday when we spotted that the Mistral Vladivostok could be seen in the international system of registration and identification of vessels under russian flag, Romain Nadal, spokesperson of the French Ministry of Foreign affairs, officially stated that the war ship is back under French flag.

"I certify that the helicopter carrier Vladivostok is under French flag," - said Nadal.

The Mistral war ship Vladivostok can now be seen with two different MMSI (Maritime Mobile Service Identity): one french (227022600) and one russian (273549920).

Last Friday, the russian MMSI was activated while the french one was de-activated, leading to suspect that the war ship had been tranferred to Russia without the official ceremony that was supposed to take place the same day. Contacted, DCNS denied a transfer and explained it was a test. The russian MMSI stopped being used the same day at 2:10pm and the war ship was back under French flag the next day 15th of November in the morning.

We are monitoring now both links to check if anything unusual happens.
