У ніч з п'ятниці на суботу, без оплесків і традиційних у таких випадках переможних маршів, перший універсальний десантний корабель класу "містраль" «Владивосток» з 200-ма російськими моряками вийшов на ходові випробування у відкрите море з портового міста Сен-Назер (Франція).
Важко сказати, що саме тієї миті відчували російські матроси, мічмани та офіцери, але напевне можна сказати, що вони не було надто здивованими. У більшості з них ще живий у пам'яті «теплий» прийом, який упродовж кількох місяців російському екіпажу «кораблів-убивць» влаштовували французькі, польські, литовські та українські активісти, протестуючи проти їхньої передачі на озброєння ВМФ РФ. Мрії юних матросів зійти на берег, погуляти містом, вдихнути вільного французького повітря не збулися. Казармені умови проживання на навчальному російському кораблі «Смольний» дозволяли лише бачити крізь задраєні ілюмінатори металічні конструкції судових кранів, причали та вантажні контейнери.
Французька сторона через «технічні причини» перенесла заплановані на 10 вересня випробування, при цьому категорично спростувавши зв'язок між зміною своїх планів і ситуацією в Україні. «Владивосток» має повернутися в Сен-Назер 22 вересня. Потім будуть проведені додаткові випробування - з 23 вересня по 2 жовтня. На борту корабля зараз перебуває група російських моряків, які готуються до несення служби на кораблях цього класу, у т.ч. для проходження навчання роботі з бортовими системами містраля.

Як повідомляло агентство, раніше Єлисейський палац оголосив про рішення Ради оборони Франції заморозити контракт з росіянами через «відсутність умов для постачання містралів». Згідно з умовами контракту, поставка першого містраля до Росії була запланована на жовтень цього року. Однак через тиск з боку США, країн НАТО та ЄС французька влада вирішила відмовитися від цих планів.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Elysee Palace announced the decision of the French Defense Council to freeze the contract with the Russians due to "lack of conditions for the supply of Mistrals." Under the terms of the contract, the delivery of the first Mistral to Russia was scheduled for October this year. However, due to pressure from the United States, NATO and the EU, the French authorities decided to abandon these plans.
