France Says It May Never Deliver Mistral Ships To Russia

In another step towards the non delivery of the Mistral, French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian declared today that there is a possiblity that France will never go throught with the delivery of the Mistral-class ships.

Le Drian: Russians have to realise that we may never deliver.

"We may never deliver [the Mistral ships]; the Russians have to realise this. It is impossible to consider the delivery under the tense conditions we [currently] find ourselves in" explained the Minister to BFMTV and RMC.

He noted that France's final decision on Mistral delivery will depend on the development of the situation in Ukraine.

Lavrov: It is a problem of France’s reputation.

“I am a little fed up with this question. It is not our problem anymore. It is a problem of France’s reputation. They have to fulfill all the obligations under the contract,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday.

India: no link between the Rafale deal and the Mistral deal.

Unfortunately for Lavrov, the main contract that he was claiming could be cancelled because of the Mistral delivery being postponed is on a good way to go through with India ordering 126 Rafale fighter jets from France.

The Russian deal with France for two Mistral-class ships is different from India’s deal with Paris for 126 Rafale fighter jets, Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation P.S. Raghavan told Sputnik Thursday.

“Frankly, I don’t think there is any link between a contract that you signed with France, which is already under implementation, and a contract that we are discussing with France, which has not even been concluded,” Raghavan said.

Only Russia and the Front National who received several million euros loans from Russian banks seems to worry about France's reputation...
